I’ve made it to Worcestershire on the way to South Wales - to a student midwives event. We are taking 3 days to get there, as I still need to sleep lots. Found a beautiful place near Upton on Severn - cosy and comforting, so far so good. Short walk out in new coat by @ilsejacobsen - comes highly recommended! Warm and waterproof, and vibrant colour cheering me.
As promised @the_majestic_midwife - our thoughts on this NEW children’s book about what #midwives do! Our grandies love it as much as we do - here’s @acbmidwife reading it to Betsy. We’re reviewing it for @the_practising_midwife_journal - it’s available on Amazon. Go spread the word! @abueladoula you’ll adore this ❤️

I was a student midwife here - well actually, a ‘pupil midwife’. It was 1978.
The ‘tutor’ (no lecturers as the training school was in the maternity unit in Burnley, upstairs) was Miss Cawthra - was from Leeds. She was very posh, and annoyingly called us ‘gals’. So here’s the question - which one is me?

Flashback: being filmed for NHS England a few years ago for short video on ‘language used during childbirth’ - something I’m passionate about. The final product is now on my personal website sheenabyrom.com under the link ‘films and videos’
A few takes were needed!

First trip out & went for a relaxing pedicure at local beauty therapists. Was divine, and Poppy the beautiful technician made me feel good. Think I’ve turned a corner, thanks to my wonderful sister Anne, who’s cared for me from day 1. #thankful #rest #relax
2nd trip out to local cafe & garden centre - spotted this beautiful bee collecting pollen. What a treat! @janethebeekeepingmidwife I thought of you 🙃 #bees #summeriscoming #nature
